Show me a stage and I will get the uncontrollable urge to get up and perform! At school I was always in plays, choirs, public speaking teams, even a terrible band. And from there I pursued a professional career that required me to pitch, to present to large numbers of people, to train groups and to speak after dinner at awards Ceremonies to hundreds of people. So I have no fear of being on stage – quite the opposite!

I have many years of experience as an emcee and interviewer, both on stage and on video. I’ve ran the stage at many sci-fi and steampunk events and interviewed many celebrities from those fields including Paul McGann, Alex Kingston, David Bradley, Ben Miller, Sylvester McCoy, Paul Darrow, Violet Hugh, Professor Elemental, Mr.B The Gentleman Rhymer and many more.

I’ve Emceed many steampunk events introducing a major proportion of UK steampunk artists and performers.

Always happy to run a stage as well as emcee, please get in touch if you need a compere or interviewer for your event.

As a professional actor I have appeared in historical documentaries and comedy programmes, including Timewatch, Filthy Cities, Elizabeth I and an episode of the IT Crowd.

History is one of my passions and I have been fortunate enough to pass on that passion as a historical performer at shows and events. I’ve covered many periods from Iron Age to Second World War. I’ve been a Roman on Hadrian’s Wall, a medieval sword master at Dover Castle and even a Victorian Vampire Hunter in Northumberland!

I can ride a horse, use a variety of bows, fence, and safely demonstrate several types of historical weapons.

Contact me direct about solo historical or acting work, or, if you need a historical feature with props and people, then get in touch with the excellent History’s Maid.

For many years I performed as Count Rostov – mainly at steampunk events – and once a year, I would write a very popular and much anticipated radio play in the style of classic Radio 4 comedies such as Round The Horne. These would be performed by a talented cast live on stage. I’ve also written and performed many sketches over the years, often featuring one or both of The Cogkneys – a wonderful music hall act.

These days I have new material and a new persona, performing stand-up as Quirky – trying to master the art of observational comedy, although those who truly appreciate the more groan inducing one-liners will find there are still a few in my act!

I’m still writing radio plays and always looking for comedy gigs!
